What Caitlin has to say ...

We think our program is great! The artists think our program is great! But what do you think? This is what Caitlin has to say about her experience with the Art2Heart program. We thank Caitlin for sharing her thoughts with us.

I really like this program because it gives me an opportunity to learn about what art is really like and then experience different ways of art: music, ceramics, painting and dance.

My favorite session was pottery with Lynda Kent because I could express myself and how I was feeling on the vase.

Thank you to everyone who gave me the opportunity to enjoy the program.

Magic with clay

On Sat 25th of June, we were welcomed by Lynda Kent to her open studio in Ferntree Gully. We learned to work with clay and had a go making a vase. It was amazing how creative we can be working with our hands and working with clay. We thank Lynda for introducing this wonderful medium to us.

What Bridgette has to say....

We think our program is great! The artists think our program is great! But what do you think? This is what Bridgette has to say about her experience with the Art2Heart program. We thank Bridgette for sharing her thoughts with us.

I'm having a great time doing the program. It's allowed me to enjoy and learn about things I might not have otherwise had the opportunity to do. So far I have especially liked going to the artists studio to see their work places and my favourite thing was the session with The Didgeman because I could be really creative in my decorating.

Thank you for the chance to be part of such a wonderful program.

Music and colours

On Sat 18th of June 2011, we were warmly welcomed to the world of Tracey Roberts. Under the amazing dome (yes, Tracey and her family live in a dome), for the very first time, we were introduced to the concept of "synesthesia" (seeing colours whilst listening to music).

A Morning with Didgeman

It was with much anticipation that we started our 3rd Art2Heart session on Sat 11th June 2011 with Stax, the Didgeman! Not only we learned about Aboriginal culture and how didgeridoos are made, we also had our first try playing didgeridoo. Some of us were natural; others had to try a few times before making a sound with the instrument. It was fun just to try! We were also given a chance to paint our own didgeridoo. Once again, it was wonderful to see everyone's creativity and imagination being captured by the lovely colours and patterns that are now decorating our very own didgeridoos!!

In love with nature

Our 2nd Art2Heart session was a visit to Peter Meihuizen's amazing art studio in Olinda on Sat 4th June 2011. Peter facilitated the 1.5 hour workshop introducing clay-making and free style painting to the students. More importantly, Peter showed us his love for nature and how it inspires him to be creative.

First encounter

Finally we began our first Art2Heart session on Sat 28 of May. Two artists, Emma Johnson and Neil Mendez took our keen students on an adventure with free style painting and fun break dancing.
