Art2Heart 2014: Presentation

All good things come to an end and we finished our fabulous 6-week program on Saturday 6 September. It is with such a pride that our Art2Heart 2014 project team presented participation certificates to this year's students. In a way, this was like a graduation!! And of course, we could not have finished the last session without some fun and rhythm. So we were delighted to welcome back Mohamed Camara from Rhythm of Life to celebrate our achievements with some African drum beats!

Once again, JCI Eastern would like to acknowledge the support of our artists, members and volunteers for coordinating this year's project. We also thank Grill'd Restaurant and City of Whitehorse for providing some funds for the 2014 initiative. To our students and parents, thank you for your participation this year and thank you for always being on time.

May all our students continue to explore this world with curiosity and see the world through creativity.

Art2Heart 2014: Felting

Introducing the magic world of felting!

The brilliant textile artist, Jessie Bleakley, joined us on Saturday 30 August and taught us how to use felting techniques and fabrics such as wool and silk to make beautiful crafts. Children made a small soap pouch to take home and collaboratively worked on a felting piece featuring many colourful square fabrics for JCI Eastern.

Let us welcome you to the world of felting!

Art2Heart 2014: Glass Art

By popular demand, Kirsten and Garey from Spirit of Glass once again joined our Art2Heart project on Saturday 23 August to teach us the art of working with glass. Each student had a chance to make small jewelleries and a larger art piece with various types of glass. The colour, the creativity and the excitement filled the air of the Ferny Creek studio.

Of course, the results were amazing!
